08-08-2007

Stay up-to-date with the latest news and background stories on Radio Netherlands and have them delivered directly to you by subscribing to our RSS service.

Here's a selection of RSS readers:

RSS Bandit (Windows)
Rssreader (Windows)

Newsnetwire lite (Mac)
Bloglines (web-based)

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and involves a piece of software called a news reader, which is freely downloadable from the web.

After installation, you can indicate which programme updates you'd like to receive. Every time you start up the RSS software, it will check whether new updates are available and store them on your computer. This saves you having to click your way through our website in search of new updates.

How does it all work in practice?

Let's say you're interested in new updates about Africa or culture. You will then want to include the links to these website categories to the RSS feeds in your RSSreader.

The RSS links are easy to put together: just copy the URL of the index page you're interested in and add ?view=RSS.

Thus, the RSS-link for our Culture pages is: http://www.radionetherlands.nl/features/cultureandhistory/?view=RSS

In the table below you'll find a selection of ready-made RSS links.

Sir/Madam, Democracy as a system of governance and interest representation demands respect for dissent and opposition. It recognizes the principle of majority rule and guarantees protection of minorities. Democracy also builds faith in electoral contestation to gain public office and gives legitimacy to political parties as primary instruments for acquisition and transfer of power from one set of individuals to another. Unfortunately, despite the significance of the above elements only the power full elite are fitted in power and Pakistani are always left at the mercy of circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule their country according to their aspiration and desire to built this country, which can provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare society. Only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for your intention is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of distraction or disaster. Change of socio-political system is inevitable to empower the Pakistani at grass route level for rapid development. See www.idp.org.pk.

It is also possible to use RSS feeds in WEB2.0 websites, like Netvibes.com or Pageflakes.com, all you have to do is to copy and paste the RSS URI and add it as a module. Some websites have a small button to add them automatically to these services.
