How To Remove Friendster Apps (Widgets)

friendster apps

A lot of Friendster users seems to have the same problem after getting bored with particular Friendster apps (widgets) installed. They were unable to remove these applications because the delete button (or icon) was no where to be found. So instead, I install some application and attempt to remove them myself. Things went fine, perhaps the delete button wasn’t there and was added by Friendster recently?

Removing Friendster applications (widgets)

All your installed apps will be listed in My Apps tab. Here’s how you can remove them:

  1. Click "Edit", select "Delete"
  2. Confirm your delete by clicking "Delete App"

Understand Web Traffics - Hits, Pageviews, Impressions, Unique

understand web traffics

There are various of terms when it comes to calculation of web traffics. Some statistics give you report in terms of daily and monthly unique visitors; some provides more - Pageviews, Hits, etc. You could have heard webmasters claiming their sites to have more than 1 million hits a month. But how big is 1 million hits, does that means they have 1 million visitors every month? Here’s a brief explanations for those who are confuse how figures in these web statistic terms are generated.

Hits

Measuring traffics in hits usually returns you a proudly large number. Hits is also known as request and it’s the total number of files loaded when a single page is requested from the web server. So how hits are calculated? Picture this - a single web page with 20 images (transparent.gif, header-background.gif, etc)is loaded, that’s 20 hits for starters. The web page has 10 photos (jammie.jpg, group-photo.jpg, etc), that’s another 10 hits. if you add up the CSS files, Javascript files and all the external files, each time a web page is loaded, it can easily build up more than 50 hits. If you clear cache, reload the page, another 50+ hits again.

Hits are rarely used to to judge a website’s traffic nowadays as they are not really accurate. The numbers are big and certainly cool, but generally useless.

Photoshop Tutorial: Design Tiger / Leopard Style Character

tiger leopard skin character

Few readers were asking if I’ll release a guide on creating the furly tiger / leopard skinned "X" I’ve used in the Leopard wallpaper. Well, if you want it I’ll try my best to illustrate the guide on creating them. But first, I’d like to declare that this isn’t an original idea of mine, rather a design I pickup when browsing through a Photoshop book in some store couple of months back. The steps should be similar, although I can’t remember much of the details in the book. Full tutorial after jump.

Step 1

Create a new document at your preferred size and create an alphabet in the middle. For your reference, I’m using a canvas at the size of 500 x 400 pixels, Adobe Garamond font.

Step 2

Change the alphabet’s color to orange color [#ffa70e]. Choose Lasso Tool, hold SHIFT key, and randomly highlighting small portions within the alphabet.

Step 3

Create a new layer on top of your alphabet, name it spots. Select black color [#000000] and fill up the highlighted parts. Your design should look something like this image below.
