The Rory Peck Awards Sponsored by Sony The Roy Peck Awards is the main fundraiser for The Rory Peck Trust The Rory Peck Awards is an international and unique competition, which celebrates freelance camerawork in TV news and current affairs worldwide. The annual Rory Peck Awards Ceremony has become one of the most prestigious and moving events in the international broadcasting industry. Sony enabled The Trust to begin its charitable programme of work by sponsoring the first three years of the Awards, 1995-1997. Since the relationship was renewed in 2001, Sony have remained the primary corporate sponsor of The Rory Peck Awards and sole sponsor of the Awards ceremony. The Trust meanwhile has grown into an internationally recognized organization, widely respected for its charitable work. In 2001, Sony and The Rory Peck Trust created a new award to recognise the value that Sony places on those freelancers who risk their lives to film images that have had an impact internationally. The competition for The Sony Impact Award has grown, and this award is now judged each year in Europe by specially selected panels of European broadcast professionals (2002 in Paris, 2003 in Berlin , 2004 in Milan and 2005 in Barcelona). The Awards ceremony has always been a joint industry effort, and is now produced with support from APTN, BBC News, BDL Autocue, BSkyB, CNN, Channel 4 TV, Globecast, ITV News, NBC News, Neon and Reuters. It is attended by senior broadcasters, freelancers, bureau chiefs, commissioning editors, diplomats and journalists. The Awards generate increasingly wide media coverage with BBC World’s “In The Firing Line” and Channel 4 Television’s “The Rory Peck AwardsSlot”. There are four Awards: The Sony
