oming up with bands that you’d like to see in Guitar Hero is pretty easy—you’ve got your obvious picks like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Pink Floyd, and then all those oddball personal selections like, for example, Ween, the Hold Steady and Possum Dixon. Well, it seems like more people are playing this game than your typical gamers and game journalists—even music-label executives are getting in on the action. Unlike the impotent musings of the rest of us, though, they actually might be able to get things rolling.
As reported by the L.A. Times, the head executive at Sony/ATV Music Publishing—which holds the rights to the John Lennon-Paul McCartney library—has expressed interest in seeing the band represented in Guitar Hero, in much the same way Aerosmith will be in an upcoming release. "It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," said Martin Bandier.
We’ll have to wait and see if something concrete comes out of this. We’re still awaiting word from Activision, but we’ll let you know when we hear more. And while there’s no discounting the influence that the Beatles have had on pop music throughout the decades, it remains to be seen if their songs would be a good fit for a Guitar Hero game...
