Commission Reports

In 2002 President George W. Bush appointed Dr. Buzz Aldrin to serve on the Presidential Commission on the Future of the United States Aerospace Industry. The task force was comprised of twelve Commissioners, including Chairman Bob Walker (Former Congressman, R-PA, Chairman, Science Committee) and other leaders in aviation and aerospace. The Commission spent the year re-evaluating issues associated with the U.S. aerospace industry in the global economy. With regular briefings in Washington, DC, the Commission also traveled to Europe, Russia and Asia meeting with the respective space agencies. On November 18, 2002 the Final Report of the Commission was published containing its recommendations, with insights into the special significance of the opportunities of space travel and exploration as contained in Chapter 3.
