Now you can fly with PayPal

PayPal became the first on-line payment system that created a partnership with an airline company - Northwest Airlines. The recent news release by Northwest Airlines says that "PayPal is offering $50 USD cash back into customer PayPal accounts when they purchase tickets of $250 or more by March 27, 2008. Travel must take place between April 1 and June 14, 2008, and tickets must be purchased at www.nwa.com." From the other end, Northwest Airlines are offering an added incentive where members, who are part of the frequent flyer program, can receive 500 bonus miles if they purchase tickets using PayPal.

Northwest Airlines is one of the world's largest airline companies with over 1,400 daily departures. PayPal is a global leader in online payment solutions with over 141 million accounts. Both companies are hoping for expanding their business through this partnership. "We are excited to add Northwest Airlines, one of the world's largest airlines, as the first airline to accept PayPal.  Many of our customers already book travel with Northwest Airlines and are eager to use their PayPal accounts to do so", said Stephanie Tilenius, Vice President of Merchant Services for PayPal.

This relatively new partnership and promotion announcements have fired up some interesting discussions by skeptics and enthusiasts of both PayPal and Northwest airlines. You can access the posts by logging on http://consumerist.com/consumer/methods-of-payment/northwest-airlines-ac...

PayPal has already proved

PayPal has already proved that it is going ahead all today's payment systems. And this agreement is just an additional evidence that PayPal is thinking progressively.
