Everyone…sing along! Okay so you don’ t have to really. Quick update….finished the circus sweater yesterday. Then I was solicited to make a bag for a friend’s bday this week, Thursday is when we will give it to her. So I am now putting all else on hold to design & make a new bag. I finished the design this mornign & got the bottom about 1/2 done. Now I just need to knit, knit, knit! Hoping I have enough of the lamb’s pride worsted for the body of the bag. If not then I may be going to Solvang tomorrow to get some more. I am very excited about this bag! Not sure I want to let y’all know the design plan yet but let’s just say that it’s springy.
So off to knit & I am going to try pics again right now. Wish me luck!

I wish that computers were perfect, but then they would rule the world so that might not be my wish after all.
I still can’t get onto msn so I am just using ie & hoping that I can do without all my favorites.
I have finished 4 pair of mittenettes in the last 2 days. Fun!
And yesterday was our Girls trip to Solvang to shop at Village Spinning & Weaving. Tracy, Suzanne and Jayme went along to enjoy the beautiful day along the coast & up into the Santa Ynez Valley. We found many many items to buy & probably spent money we should not have. Jayme had a gift certificate from Thuy to spend and that is what spurred us into a day trip. If I could get pictures to download onto this damn page I could show you all the goodness that we came home with. Tracy also finished the cutest damn shrug from snbnation! We are all very jealous & making one for ourselves this week! I bought some organic handspun cotton for the herringbone poncho from last minute knitted gifts. And a ton of lamb’s pride worsted for felted bags. I promise pictures will come!!
Currently I am in the mindset that I should finish all the little stuff I have going:
*second sock in pink multi
*hood on circus sweater for neice
*woolease sweater for other neice (they are twins with bday next month)
*sweater for Sadie (body ready for joining sleeves)
*stripey sweater for myself (1/3 done with front, all other pieces complete)
*random scarves & hats
*baby blanket for Wilson Walker Jacks born last Thursday Jan. 14th! Gorgeous baby boy, no really he is very handsome (I don’t say that about babies unless I mean it)
Major list but not that much work for each project! So off to add to the completed projects album!!

For some dumb reason my blog host isn’t uploading my photos. I will have to remedy that somehow! I have so many pictures to post too! The Clapotis out of willowbrook handpaintedyarn, one sock, mittenettes, start of the baby blanket, etc. etc. etc.
SO now that I am frustrated with the computer & freezing my butt off in the office, I am done! I will figure it out tomorrow! Hope everyone has a good night!

I have to say that I am actually not too tired of the rain yet. I think my attitude is; take it while you can get it. Referring to actually feeling like we have a winter this year. Most years January is the most beautiful month of the year: no marine layer or fog, no rain, gorgeous 70degree days every day. That is why George & I chose Jan 20th to get married outdoors in Montecito, it’s just perfect! Not this year, oh no!
Melissa’s comment reminded me that I need to get started on the baby blanket since the baby could be born any day now. She also hinted, not so slightly, that cotton is a bitch to work with. Unfortunately I have the perfect color yarn but it is mercerized cotton. SO I am debating. Gorgeous yarn & pain to knit or not so gorgeous yarn & easy to knit. So my solution is to do a swatch of this blanket
in the sage green cotton. Then I will decide if it’s worth it, of course the baby is worth it I just want to actually finish it without ripping my hair out!
Stay dry, keep knittin’!

Our beloved new turtle that was once lost is now found! Amazingly enough I found him while vacuuming my bedroom. I am very confused by his whereabouts because we checked our room for him at least a dozen times & considering I vacuum in there every other day I am shocked I didn’t find him sooner. Well at least he is back out in the pond with Crush & has food.
I finished Tracy’s bday gift today and will post pictures after she gets it on the 18th. And I am working on a baby hat for my soon to be born nephew/niece. We don’t know what sex it is yet. I will do a hat & some cute tiny socks. I also need to do a baby blanket for the baby. I just can’t decided what yarn & pattern. Something fun & simple, that’s the families taste.
That is the excitement happening at our wet & soggy house today. Hope your day is bright & shiny despite the weather!

Okay so I posted pics of the pattern & the yarn I am going to use in the aran-along that Thuy so graciously bullied me into (I say bullied because I have been putting this sweater off for more than a year & she pushed me kindly to do it, really without even knowing that is what she would do). I am rather excited about it & have even been tempted to put down the stripey sweater once more to start the aran sweater. But since the ‘official’ start date isn’t until feb 1 I will plug right along on the stripey pain in my ass.
I washed both the verdeatriana sweater & the “sweatshirt” from Tracy today. Rather interesting development, the light blue sweater rinsed lavender purple. Craziest thing! But it’s not so crazy considering it is from handpaintedyarn & all their yarn has something funky about it. Blast how I love their yarns!
Must fight the urge to start the aran, must fight it, must fight it!!

Did I mention that Tracy gave me her most beautiful “sweatshirt” for Christmas?? I did beg her for it, it was quite a difficult decision for her because it’s the first sweater that she ever made. I rather love it!

I suppose it is the break in the rain that has me feeling like cleaning out. I worked on our 2 hall closets, our bedroom closet & next I move on to the kids closets. I can brag that I am a fairly organized person so luckily it hasn’t been much of a challenge. It’s been nice to get rid of the things that we haven’t used in this house since we moved in about 2 years ago.
Knitting on the stripey sweater is moving right along. I finished the first arm, now I am over half done with the second arm. I took a poll at knitting group on Monday and it was decided that I can do the back in solid red (same as the arms) so that I don’t have to battle with doing the striped pattern again & have about a trillion ends to weave in. Carrying them up the side was a serious pain in the ass. Oh but wait…I just noticed out of the corner of my eye that I bought those large yarn bobbins! Oh, now I may have to rethink doing stripes. I can totally wind the yarn on the bobbins! Duh, that is what they were invented & sold to me for! Well damnit! Thanks for the input ladies but now I have gone back to the original stripes. Don’t you love how you get to see my thought process’ work?? It is amazing!
I also started a sweater for Sadie, she needs a new cute fitted sweater. So I am thinking I will just do a simple 2×2 rib edge then stockinette body with raglan shaping & crew neck. In the round of course! Then I may do some fun embroidery on it, flowers or some such thing. It will be pretty plain since it is solid light blue. I am done with over half of the body. I may start the sleeves today depending on how the closet cleaning goes.
So there you have my Wednesday plans! Hope y’all have a rockin’ hump day too!!
