The Commission welcomes political agreement on the proposal establishing the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and on its financing

The Competitiveness Council reached on Friday, 23 November a political agreement българскиCestinaDanskDeutschEllinikaEnglishespañolEesti keelSuomiFrançaisMagyarItalianoLietuviu kalbaLatviesu valodaMaltiNederlandsPolskiPortuguêsromanaslovenčinaslovensčinaSvenska on the establishment of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), following the European Parliament's resolution adopted in September 2007. The same day, the Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the financing of Galileo and the EIT. The EIT should be set up by Community legislation in Spring 2008, with a budget of 309 million for the period 2008-2013. The Commission expects to appoint the Board's members in Summer 2008.
