One bidding war later between four studios, Universal has acquired the rights to a new upcoming sci-fi adventure titled Earth vs. Moon, says the Hollywood Reporter. The spec was penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and the trade says their deal is in the mid- to high-six figures. Producer Scott Stuber--who had to deal with partner Mary Parent moving on to chair MGM--is in line to produce the film once he's done overseeing Universal's The Wolfman. Wernick and Reese are also producing.

Plot Concept: It's being kept under tight wraps but it's described as a sci-fi epic.

Pretty sure we can take on the moon...

Unless the Mooninites flip us the bird in Lite-Brite form all over the US... Then everyone's gonna freak out and society will collapse.

You beat me to it sport. The Earth will kick the Moon`s ass. Besides damn thing is made out of cheese. Its soft.

No pony, it's not made out of cheese. That's why we haven't gone back in thirty-some years. We spent all that money to be disappointed. What a shame.

Don't discount the Moon. Pick up Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Great read.

The moon don't have to fight with us, all it has to do is pack it's bags and leave and then were screwed, end of story...

That 60's Moon landing was a cover up after all to hide all the WMD construction sites all over the Moon. And who's behind it? Saddam who faked his own death to over see the final stages of construction.

Let's get ready to RUMBLLLLLLLEEEEEEE!!!!

In this corner, weighing in at 5.9736×10(24) kg*, it's the big, blue, mudball EARTH!!!

And in this corner, weighing in at 7.3477×10(22) kg*, it's the ball made outta cheese, the MOON!!!

*I actually looked up each weight online, I'm not that much of a nerd.

The Moon could kill us all....if it is knocked out of orbit at all, the tides could get so screwed up it could go Katrina/ Tsunami and kill millions....It does sound like a good concept in theory....I am wondering what the plot will be?

Ok, you actually looked up the weight of the earth and the moon for a post on a genre website, and you're *NOT* that much of a nerd? :-p

I'm just messing with you. Probably just pissed I didn't think of it first...

We don't have to worry about an attack from the moon. The landing's were all fake anyway. We just had a friendly argument about that in my office yesterday. Nobody really won, we just both realized we had work to do and stopped.

We win.
