Front Row’s new icon

Front Row 2.0 makes its “world premier” today along side Mac OS X Leopard.

Here’s a short list of what is new to Front Row 2.0, and what has changed:

  • Apple has made good on its promise to make Front Row available to all Mac OS X Leopard users. Front Row can now be launched by any Mac that has been updated to Leopard, even if the Mac does not support the Apple Remote.

  • PowerBooks, Mac Pros, and any other Mac without Apple Remote support can now launch Front Row without having to resort to hacks like Front Row Enabler. Though Leopard makes Enabler unnecessary, I couldn’t be happier. Front Row for everyone!

Transparent Menu Bar

  • Taking design cues from Redmond is rarely a good idea.
  • Leopard’s Menu Bar looks odd and out of place on the Mac, as if it came straight from Windows Vista.
  • Its hideous.
  • Its ugly.
  • Everyone knows it.
  • Simply put, without Non-Transparent Menu Bar (which makes the menu bar opaque) I consider the Menu Bar unusable.
