NEWS: Where My 2 Headed Dogs At? MTV2 To Relaunch During Super Bowl

MTV somehow shocked the world last year with a Super Bowl halftime show that revealed that women have nipples and some of these women like to adorn them with jewelry. Shocking, yes? This year MTV has something different to offer: A relaunch of channel MTV2. According to an AP story, the MTV2 ad campaign with the channel's new 2 Headed Dog logo will be officially unveiled during a halftime commercial.

NEWS: BET Founder To Leave Company

The Charlotte Business Journal reported yesterday that B.E.T. founder Robert L. Johnson will step down as C.E.O of the network.

Johnson sold B.E.T. to Viacom in 2000 for a reported $3 billion. He also owns NBA basketball team the Charlotte Bobcats.

NEWS: Universal to Video On Demand: Pay Up

According to a report in today's New York Times by Jeff Leeds, Universal Music Group will no longer provide free music videos to on-demand cable or Internet services. These companies must either negotiate licensing deals or remove all Universal Music Group content from their VOD libraries.

Doug Morris is quoted in the piece as saying, "Too many businesses have been built on the back of the content we produce... So in the future, content we produce won't just be provided for free for promotional purposes. People will have to pay if they're going to use it."

NEWS: Music Videos On Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless announced the availability of full-length music video downloads as part of their new V Cast service. This is the first music video download store available to US customers on either the Web or through mobile technology.

Subscribers to Verizon Wireless' V Cast service ($15 a month) will be able to download music videos from Warner Music Group artists for $3.99 each. Videos will initially be available from Sean Paul, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Crime Mob, Simple Plan and Story Of The Year.

V Cast is Verizon's version of 3G, which is shorthand for new third generation mobile phone technology that allows users access to video content, games and much more. V Cast is powered by Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video. The service is only available on select phones, such as the LG VX8000 and the Samsung a890.
