Retablos: Miracles on the Border
Presented in conjunction with the Mexican Center of the Institute of Latin American Art and the Harrington Fellows Program at the University of Texas – Austin, the exhibition will feature retablos, noted in the book Miracles on the Border by Jorge Durand, one of the foremost specialists on migration. Retablos are small paintings on metal or wood that venerate God and the Saints – the exhibition features contemporary “miracles” about the migration experience across the U.S.-Mexico border.
