Registration deadline looms for 1 May elections

There are local elections across Wales and parts of England, as well as the Greater London Authority election on 1 May. Don't forget you have to register before you can vote in these elections. The deadline to register to vote is 16 April

If you are unsure whether you are on the register or would like to check your details, you should contact your local electoral registration office as we don't hold the electoral register.

On 24 March, we are launching our public awareness campaigns. One campaign will cover the local elections, while there is a joint campaign with London Elects for the Greater London Authority election. The campaigns use a range of advertising and other activity to encourage people to register to vote, and to provide information about the elections.

For more information about registering to vote, or to find your local electoral registration office visit our aboutmyvote website.

For more information about the London campaign, visit the London Elects website.

Tell us what you think on our draft performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers

We have produced a paper outlining the draft performance standards for Electoral Registration Officers and we seek your views on both the overall set of performance standards, and the definition and format of individual standards.

Visit our consultation page to access the paper and for information on how to submit your comments.

Have your say on party descriptions used on ballot papers

During the May 2007 elections, the use of certain descriptions by political parties on ballot papers attracted some confusion among stakeholders.

As a result, we are seeking to explore whether the registration of party descriptions can be improved and welcome your views. Visit our consultation page for information on how to submit your views.
