New Bose® DVD Home Entertainment Systems Feature Cirrus DVD Video Processor

AUSTIN, Texas -- December 5, 2001 -- In a market where DVD players became the fastest selling consumer electronic product ever1, Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) today announced that the world's premier manufacturer of high-end music and home theater systems, Bose® Corporation, has chosen Cirrus' CS98000, an advanced DVD video processor, to power three new models of Bose DVD-based home entertainment systems. Cirrus' CS98000 and supporting chips enhance the capability of Bose DVD-based home theater systems to deliver exceptional DVD movie reproduction and outstanding surround sound output.

"The sales of DVD players in 2002 are predicted to hit 39 million, with projections as high as 60 million by 2004, with complete DVD home theater systems becoming a larger part of the market," said Michelle Abraham, senior analyst, Cahner's In-Stat. "Combine that market with both corporations' audio leadership positions, and it's clear they are positioned to ride the wave of momentum."

In fact, the Bose 3-2-1, Lifestyle® 28 and Lifestyle 35 home entertainment systems are already on shelves across the nation in time for Christmas.

"We strive to make Bose products synonymous with excellence, which is why Cirrus' CS98000 is such a good choice for our DVD home theater systems," said Joe Veranth as a VP of Engineering for Bose Corporation. "The CS98000 processor contributes to the Bose standard of superior audio and video performance, which is essential to meet our customers’ high standards. Furthermore, its high degree of integration allows Bose to have an extremely compact and sleek design, which is also very easy to set-up and use."

"When an industry leader like Bose, known for outstanding quality, selects our technology to power its breakthrough home theater systems, we find it a strong validation of our exceptional DVD video technology," said Matthew Perry, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's Crystal Products Division. "The CS98000 product family also enables manufacturers to rapidly design and bring to market a new generation of consumer electronic products such as DVD equipped mini-systems, combination DVD players and automotive entertainment systems."

The Cirrus CS98000 processor provides all necessary audio and video processing functions in home theater systems, including DVD video disk navigation, sub-picture decoding, MPEG-2 video decoding, along with Dolby Digitalâ, DTSâ and MP3 decoding.

In addition to the CS98000 processor, the Bose Lifestyle 28 and Lifestyle 35 DVD home entertainment systems also rely on a variety of Cirrus home entertainment class audio DACs, audio Codecs, video DACs, SPDIF receivers and transmitters.
