The modernization of Kenmore Square Station is part of the Light Rail Accessibility Program (LRAP) and provides an accessible station with a new bus canopy.
In 2008, the Kenmore Station construction reaches the final phase with the installation of two new elevators, connecting the platforms and the mezzanine ( fare machine level) and the mezzanine and recently opened busway. Also three new escalators will be installed between the platforms, mezzanine and busway levels. Finally the glass shingles for the stainless steel bus canopy will be installed.
The architect and urban designer for the project is DiMella Shaffer, Boston, MA.
