Mind the gap - between the train and the platform

Training Rules

Taking your pram on the train?

Taking your pram on the train?
Don't ever leave your pram unattended and always keep a firm hold of it anywhere on CityRail or CountryLink property.

Always apply the pram brakes when waiting on the platform or anywhere you're standing or sitting.

Ensure that your child is securely strapped to the pram.

Park your pram sideways, not pointing towards the track.

We recommend you use the pram harness if provided, for extra safety.

Get on and off the train closest to the guard's carriage so you are in full view before the train doors are closed.

Mind the gap between the platform and the train door.

The safest way to get off the train with your pram is to wheel it off backwards - this is especially useful when there is a large gap between the platform and the train.

Please don't rush - allow plenty of time for your journey.

If you require any assistance please don't hesitate to approach CityRail or CountryLink staff. They are there to help you.

Transit Officers regularly patrol CityRail and CountryLink services to assist you in having a safe and trouble free journey.

They work in conjuction with the NSW Police and have the authority to issue on-the-spot fines, have the powers of arrest, the power to direct people to leave trains and stations, and the power to demand names and addresses.

Railway trespassing - offenders will be arrested and fined up to $5,500

Report it - don't ignore it

If you see someone trespassing phone the police on 000.

If you know somebody who has committed graffiti or vandalism on railway property, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Need we say it?

Mind the gap between the train and the platform.

It sounds obvious, but over 100 people a year fall down the gap when boarding or getting off the train. Please pay special attention when the platform is crowded.

Heavy fines apply.

Fines and penalties apply for offences committed on CityRail and CountryLink trains, stations and property.

RailCorp Transit Officers regulary patrol trains and stations, and have the authority to issue on-the-spot fines. They also have the powers of arrest and work closely with NSW Police.

Fare Evasion - it costs us all

Travelling without a correct ticket is breaking the law.

Be sure to buy a ticket before you travel. CityRail staff and police can request to see your ticket or concession authority card at any time.

So play fair by paying the fare, because now more than ever, getting caught is just a matter of time.
