Carrie Jensen was born in Glen Rock, New Jersey and began her ballet training at the age of 5 at the Helena Baron School of Ballet. Since the age of 7, she studied with Helena Baron on full scholarship under the instruction of Paul Sutherland, Brunilda Ruiz and Ralph DiRienzo. As a member of the Baron Ballet Company, Peterson performed lead roles in The Nutcracker, The Firebird, The Sleeping Beauty, Etudes and The Snow Maiden. She was awarded a full scholarshp to attend the School of American Ballet’s Summer Program and attended American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive for three years under full and partial scholarships.

Jensen joined American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company in 1999. Her roles included the principal and corps in Allegro Brillante, the brown trio and pas de deux in Jirí Kylián’s Return to a Strange Land, Robert Hill’s Marimba, Natalie Weir’s Bitter Moon and His Weeping, William Tuckett’s Schulwerk, Jessica Lange’s Oblivion and the pas de deux from Le Corsaire.

Jensen joined American Ballet Theatre in May 2000. She has danced in Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Merry Widow, Giselle, The Nutcracker, La Bayadère, Le Corsaire and Don Quixote, among others.
