"Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning certainly have had fun with their indie-rock collective Broken Social Scene. Since the band's formation near Toronto in the late '90s, the group has swelled to up to 19 members, including Metric's Emily Haines, Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan from Stars and one Leslie Feist, later of ""1, 2, 3, 4"" Grammy-nominated fame. The atmospheric outfit won a Juno Award in its native Canada for its sophomore album, the buzzed about You Forgot It In People, which was followed up by an eponymous effort in 2005. Two years later, the band changed direction slightly, spearheading a new series known as ""Broken Social Scene Presents"" on the Arts & Crafts imprint. Fittingly the first release was Kevin Drew Spirit If …, the frontman's solo effort, which the band has been touring behind since fall 2007. The next in the series, due sometime in 2008, is expected to be Canning's solo album."
