I must congratulate our three representatives on the Kerry Minor Team, Barry Shanahan, Wayne Guthrie and Shane Carroll. It is great to have the Club represented by these fine young men. The big one is coming up in a few weeks against the ould enemy in Cork. I look forward to see the three lads perform with distinction once more. We must also commend minor selector, Paddy Creagh on his hard work for the county. Paddy has a far more onerous task in whipping our B team into shape for the forthcoming County League. Congratulations to Kieran and Daniel, also, on reaching the Allianz National League final with Kerry. The game is on Sunday week and hopefully both lads will have prominent parts in another Kerry victory.
With Tom Tansley`s help we have completed a corporate promotional video. The video features a "Galaxy of Stars" as Bracker was wont to say. It is a hugely impressive production and Tom and his staff at Rooftop Productions deserve our thanks. We hope to launch the video next week with a reception in the Club, for the people who took part. The video will be posted the web site following the launch. I know you will be impressed.
Our playing field has recovered very well from the very bad weather we endured in late March. It is in remarkable shape. I would ask all teams to treat the field with care. We have a busy playing schedule coming up and it is our intention to play all games in Connolly Park, if possible. We will be putting the finishing touches to the fencing in the next week or so. This will protect the playing surface from unnecessary wear and tear also, as the field will be completely enclosed as a result.
On the playing front our all sections of the Club are now in full swing. The Seniors had a third win on the trot in Sneem on Sunday last. It is great to get into the winning groove once more. Keep up the good work. The Minors resume on Friday next and we wish them well. Timmy McMahon and his Juvenile mentors continue do excellent work and the results have been fantastic. Our B team are also playing on Firday next in the Tralee Town Board tournament. This tournament will be good preparation for the forthcoming county League.
We will be celebrating 30 years of Ladies Football during the forthcoming May Bank Holiday weekend. Noreen Power and her committee are putting an exciting programme of events in place. Further details will be the web site shortly.
I made an appeal for umpires to come forward and help. I am delighted to say that I have a great response to the appeal. My thanks to those, who came forward. It is greatly appreciated.
Finally, I would like to wish Fr Micheal a happy birthday. May he celebrate many more.
