Victory is sweet!!!

It's a ritual here in the GamePro offices to play Mario Strikers Charged. While every editor has had their share of fun with the game, LongHairedOffender, Nando, SonOfTheShiningPath, and myself have played the game on a daily basis since it entered our office back at the beginning of the summer. While I'd say I'm pretty good at the game, it never quite added up to a series victory... oftentimes, I'd take the first or second game of a set, only to lose it all in a heartbreaking fashion. I'm also the type of gamer who's predisposed to losing... I used to lose at NES games as a child to get my friends to play with me longer (aww) and the practice seems to have become a curse. My most heated rivalry was with LHO, who would routinely beat me 4-5 times per week. After accumulating what I would peg at about 50 straight losses, I am proud to say that I have finally defeated LHO, the unofficial office Strikers champion, in an exhilirating two-game set.
Loosor
It started out normally enough--I took a victory in the first game. While that may have been unheard of two months or so ago, I had started to notch a few first-game victories, only to become unnerved and lose the second two. LHO jumped out to a quick lead, but I kept it close. With my newly appointed captain, Waluigi, I was able to match his Mario in terms of speed and special move power. With roughly a minute to go, I tied the game. LHO could feel the pressure more than ever before, and the game entered into sudden death with each player leaving it all on the field. Powerups were dispensed as soon as they were gained, and the pitch was littered with banana peels, turtle shells and wounded players. I brought my Birdo to about quarterfield, and let loose a charged shot... with his players approaching, I wasn't able to get off her (his?!) devastating egg super-strike. I didn't need it, it turns out. Birdo's shot curved around LHO's diving goalie, and I had broken his streak, and possibly, my curse.
Cheator
In retrospect, I only have two regrets. The first was that Ahoy_and_Avast wasn't around to see LHO gasp, scream, and stomp out of my cube, as A_a_A had been waiting to see him suffer for so long, and missed the monumental occasion by mere seconds. My other regret? Accepting a challenge from LHO's devious henchman, SonOfTheShiningPath. Flying high from my victory, I lost in two games to SotSP in a series marked by interruptions and other excuses I haven't come up with yet. But seriously, does the Super Bowl Championship team put their title up to the first team to come onto the field after a win? As far as I see it, I have one championship victory today and one exhibition loss. And I'm ready to defend my title.

Do you all know how many hours I spent sitting in DaveMayCry's cube, watching these two play just to see LHO finally lose? There is nothing more humorous to me than watching LHO lose at Strikers. He gets so angry, it's hilarious. And the one day DMC finally achieves victory, I'm not there to witness it. I am so angry!!!
