Simon Wilkinson

Simon Wilkinson is Chief Executive Officer of Purple Labs. Simon is in charge of the overall strategy and development of the company.

Simon is the former founder and chief executive officer of Magic4 Ltd, which became the mobile messaging software market leader, before being sold to Openwave Systems for $83 million in August 2004.

Simon raised venture funding of $21 million from 3i, Philip and Motorola, recruited and managed a senior team of industry professionals, and built the global organisation from zero to 150 people, with offices in the UK, USA, China, Hong Kong, France and India.

Under his leadership, Magic4 produced strong consistent revenue growth of over 100% year on year, and achieved profitability and positive cash flow, on $23 million of annual revenue.

Simon was instrumental in Magic4 earning recognition as the leading provider of messaging solutions to wireless terminal manufacturers and he was personally recognised as the Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the year 2002.

Sebastien Soyer

Sebastien Soyer is co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Purple Labs. Sebastien manages the development teams as well as the professional services team; his key responsibility is to deliver to the customer on time and on budget.

Prior to founding Purple Labs, Sebastien worked for Sensei, an independent mobile device manufacturer, as hardware manager. He was responsible for Sensei’s hardware development including digital/analog electronics and radio-frequency products. He grew his team to 18 people and created close relationships with mechanical development suppliers.

Before joining Sensei, Sebastien was with Philips Consumer Communication as engineering director for the company’s high end products range. He oversaw the development of a range of products and handsets from inception to manufacturing.

Sebastien holds an Engineering Degree from Ireste.

Steve Langkamp

Steve Langkamp is Chief Marketing Officer of Purple Labs. Steve is in charge of marketing strategy and development, including marketing communications and product marketing.

Most recently, Steve was chief operating officer of ShoZu, a provider of mobile applications enabling consumers to connect with their online social networks, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of products and services, and all internal operations.

Previously, Steve was chief operating officer at Magic4 and earlier led the sales and marketing team at Eurotel (now O2 Czech Republic) and was the general manager for devices and services at One 2 One (now T-Mobile UK).

Steve holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a BA with honours in mathematics from Washington University.

Michel Chomette

Michel Chomette is Chief Financial Officer at Purple Labs. Michel is responsible for managing the financial risks of the business, for financial planning and record-keeping as well as managing Purple Labs legal commitments.

Michel Chomette has a long track record in the industry with more than 20 years of experience in finance and operational management with executive positions in major international groups.

His previous experience includes key executive positions such as chief financial officer of the French Aluminium Division at Norsk Hydro, vice-president finance at Aladdino and vice-president merger and acquisition Asia at Tokheim Group.

Michel holds a Master in Finance from the Universite Paris I and an executive MBA from the Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), Paris.

Jean-Marie Andre

Jean-Marie Andre is co-founder and Senior Vice-President of Corporate Development of Purple Labs. Jean-Marie is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and alliances and represents Purple Labs within the industry community and key industry initiatives.

Prior to founding Purple Labs, Jean-Marie was Project Director at Sensei, a mobile device manufacturer. He was responsible for all projects within Sensei, including mobile handset development projects for Siemens and Mitsubishi.

Previously, Jean-Marie was engineering director at Philips Consumer Communication for the entry-level products range.

Jean-Marie holds a DESS from ISIAL, specialising in artificial intelligence. Since 1992, he is teaching at Supelec (Paris) on real-time and GSM.

Olivier Bartholot

Olivier Bartholot is Vice-President of Product Management of Purple Labs. Olivier is responsible for developing the product portfolio in accordance with the company strategy and market requirements.

Before joining Purple Labs, Olivier was vice-president of field product management at Openwave, a leading provider of software applications enabling revenue-generating services on mobile devices. There he led the team responsible for supporting Openwave’s product portfolio in Europe and Asia.

Previously, Olivier was at Magic4, where he was in charge of the company’s messaging portfolio with a special focus on operator relationships.

Olivier began his career at Phillips Electronics, where he spent seven years in the communications division, combining business development, sales and marketing.

Olivier graduated from the Reims Management School in Champagne, France.

Arnaud Dammert

Arnaud Dammert is Vice-President Sales EMEA. He's responsible for business development and sales in the Western and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Prior to joining Purple Labs, Arnaud was EMEA sales director for the client software business at Openwave, a leading provider of software applications enabling revenue-generating services on mobile devices. By winning key OEMs, inserting Openwave's complete portfolio and establishing strong relationship and partnership with them, he positioned Openwave as the market leader in the region.

Before that, Arnaud was business development manager at Palm Computing in charge of the software platform licensing and sales director for Smartcode Technologie, a leader in embedded software, where he succeeded in licensing to most of European handset manufacturers.

Arnaud is graduate from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce of Grenoble with a master in Information Technology management, and holds a degree from the Universite Lyon II in Computer Science management.

Gordon Tsang is General Manager and Senior Vice-President of Sales in Asia. Gordon is responsible for business development and sales in the Asia Pacific region and also supervises the Beijing office and represents Purple Labs interests in Asia.

Prior to joining Purple Labs, Gordon was vice-president and general manager for the worldwide client software business at Openwave, a leading provider of software applications enabling revenue-generating data services on mobile and broadband devices. He headed the sales and professional services organisation and successfully strengthened Openwave market position in Asia.

His previous experience includes Asia Pacific director at Magic4, where he successfully developed the mobile messaging business, and Asia sales director for Zi Corporation, where he opened new markets for its text input solutions.

Gordon holds an engineering degree from Leeds Metropolitan University in Electrical and Electronic engineering.

Jean-Luc Botto

Jean-Luc Botto is co-founder and Chief Architect of Purple Labs. Jean-Luc is responsible for defining an architecture to support the product strategy and for overseeing technology research projects.

Before co-founding Purple Labs, Jean-Luc was engineering director at Sensei, a mobile device manufacturer, where he successfully recruited and led an engineering team of 50 people.

Previously, Jean-Luc was engineering director with Philips Consumer Communication. He was in charge of the creation and growth of the R&D team at Philips mobile phone division in Le Mans, which grew to 350 people. He brought to market a complete range of mobile phones (GSM, DCS, PDC, TDMA, Etacs and AMPS). He was responsible for the development of the Genie GSM handset that was regarded as the best handset in size, weight and cost in the industry at the time of its launch in 1997.

Jean-Luc holds a PHD in digital signal processing and is a Major of ENST Paris (National Telecom University). He attended the business school Philips ESSEC and has been teaching Digital Signal Processing techniques at Supelec and ENST Paris since 1992.

Marie Bonte is Director of Human Resources at Purple Labs. Marie manages the company's most valuable resource, its people, and reconciles the organisation's objectives with the needs of employees.

Prior to joining Purple Labs, Marie was HR manager at Café Folliet Group, a leading coffee distributor in France. Marie successfully supported the company development from a family enterprise to a nationwide company group with 28 local agencies.

Previously, Marie acquired and managed a language school in Rhônes-Alpes (France). She led the company strategy, managed the team, directed the course studies and ensured the profitability of the language center.

Marie holds a Masters degree in Human Resources from University of Grenoble (France) as well as a Masters degree in English from University of Lille (France).
