BIOBASED INSULATION SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2008 USDA BIOPREFERREDSM SHOWCASE

BioBased Insulation ROGERS, ARK., April 17, 2008 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- BioBased Insulation is one of 20 bio-based product manufacturers that will be featured at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferredSM Showcase April 21-24 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

BioPreferredSM was created by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (FSRIA) to increase the procurement and use of bio-based products through a procurement preference program for Federal agencies and their contractors, and a labeling program to enable the marketing of bio-based products.

The showcase, which is being held as part of General Service Administration’s (GSA) International Products and Services Expo, is a resource for bio-based product manufacturers, federal agencies and others interested in renewable products.

“BioBased Insulation is committed to encouraging sustainability in the nation’s building practices,” said Mike Muccio, COO of BioBased Insulation. “This is a great opportunity to showcase our sustainable products to the nation’s top federal construction management organizations.”

FSRIA also tasked the USDA with developing, establishing and leading the BioPreferredSM program and requires Federal agencies to purchase bio-based products over their petroleum-based counterparts, as long as the bio-based materials are comparable in performance, reasonably available and priced.

BioBased Systems and BioBased Technologies, both sister companies of BioBased Insulation, also will be represented at the BioBased Insulation booth. BioBased Systems produces a variety of agricultural-based foams. BioBased Technologies developed and holds the patent on Agrol®, the purest bio-polyol on the market. Agrol® is used in a number of industries ranging from spray foam insulation to carpeting to automotive.

Through publication in the Federal Register, USDA has designated many items as “preferred” and will add more to the list in the next few months. Many government agencies are now using these products and have found them to have comparable or superior performance to their petroleum counterparts.

BioBased Insulation has been used in government projects in the past including a project at the Department of Interior’s headquarters in Washington D.C., a Social Security Administration building in Miami, Okla., and in the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s PATH Concept Home in Omaha, Neb.
