International School Award 2006
Ashurst Wood Primary, King's Manor CC, Lyndhurst First, Manor Green College, Millais, Sackville CC and Warden Park are the latest West Sussex schools to have achieved full International School Award (ISA) status.
For Lyndhurst this was a re-award, and Manor Green College & Sackville CC, are among only 18 schools nationally to have received the Award three times.
Representatives of all 7 West Sussex schools attended the 2006 DfES International School Award Ceremony in London on 11 October, jointly organised by the DfES and the British Council, to receive their trophy of achievement from Jonathan Dimbleby. The keynote speaker was Bill Rammell, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further & Higher Education.
Among the international projects which have led to their success are curriculum links with schools in Europe and beyond, including India, Africa, China, USA and Jamaica, hosting French primary & German secondary trainee teachers, international eTwinning & eLanguages, participation in staff international professional development, and hosting a week-long student Olympiad involving 8 countries world-wide.
