I went see a taping of Deal Or No Deal last week, the host Andrew O'Keefe made this joke which "he supposedly thought it was funny" but it wasn't no one laughed except for a few. The floor manager made the whole audience pretend laugh so that Andrew didn't make a fool of himself on national tv..

you know when they say "come and be in the studio audience for our FANTASTIC HILARIOUS NEW show"? I fell for it once. They never tell you the name of the show, then when you're in the studio, on the monitors is "World's Craziest Videos". It was the most horrendous 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back!

I have been to a few shows of It Takes Two incl this seasons first show.
It's a pretty slick show - the studio is quite small & the "green room" where they hang out is behind a certain behind where the cameras are.
Grant is very professional, his lines are on the auto-cue thou so pretty simple.
The audience downstairs are mainly made up of friends & family of the stars & celebs, also media & if your lucky you may sit down there if you have a stand by ticket.
They always have a few stand bys - in case people dont turn up, I have had a few of these & have always got in. They generally get you in last minute before the show stars.
Those sitting upstairs are mainly public members, also where the warm up guy John Deeks stands - he's a hoot actually, always clapping like crazy & before the show he runs thru a few things, be loud, cheer etc.
Also if you are sitting up the top on the back row in the 2 blocks either side the stage, you can also have a "peep" backstage, where they wait to go on. I said hi to Ricki-Lee & she even gave me a wee twirl - lovely person!
As far as the judges go - they don't really do much - Amanda doesnt smile much at all & always seems to wear black.
The crew are all very professional - Im sure things have gone wrong but I have never noticed, the floor manager Serge seems very in control - a real credit to the show!
As far as the stars go - they all seem very nice. I remember going to a show last year & was walking out when I spotted Kate Ritchie standing by herself in the green room. It was the Tuesday after she won the Logies. I called her over & gave her a peak on the cheek & congratulated her - she's a beautiful person & so lovely - I have a lot of respect for Kate.
A few years ago I went to a taping of an Olivia Newton-John special at Channel 9 studios. We were very lucky to be front row & seeing Olivia right in front of me was a real thrill.
Tina Arena sang with her - they stuffed up during the first take (not that I even noticed lol), they done it again much to the pleasure of the audience. I remember Tina had these gorgeous sky high heels on & looked amazing.

I went to taping for Australian Idol, the Unforgettable...remember them? Duffy Sisters, Flynn, etc. Yeah, we were duped:). The studio was not as big as it seems on the telly. Of course now they've moved to a supposedly bigger studio.

I went to the taping of the pilot that never did and never will go to air of The Naomi Show with Naomi Robson. She taped a lot of segments over several hours. We got a lunch break with sandwiches and stuff. There was a fitness segment, a finance segment, a relationship segment where they had filmed all this prerecorded stuff with a couple having relationship problems, a women's panel (with Kate Ceberano, and 2 others), a men's panel (with Steve Vizard and 2 others), 2 interview segments with Deborah Lee Furness and Daniel MacPherson. It was quite interesting, but I'm sure Bert never took that long to record GMA! It was done at the Melbourne Docklands 7 studio next to Telstra Dome. The studio wasn't really equipped for a studio audience as they had to walk us in groups through all the news offices and stuff to get in and out. Naomi personally chose people who had written to her when she finished up on TT to offer audience places to, and someone I know got a letter. That's how I got in. Naomi also came down to the foyer after the show to meet the audience and have photos taken. She is much smaller than I thought she'd be.

Another one I went to was It Takes Two, with the final 4 couples last year. We were stand-bys so only found out we were going that day. We had to go early because they prerecorded one of Michael Buble's performances, as he had to leave straight after he did the other one live at the beginning of the show. When it was edited in live during the show you could tell it was prerecorded because the studio lights were different colours behind Grant Denyer than they were in the shots of Michael Buble on stage. Michael also stuffed up the lyrics and had to start over once. We sat up the top at the back of the stage so you could see us on screen a lot. It was also the night that David Campbell was rehearsing his show in Sydney so David and Jolene's dances were recorded the day before as well, but they didn't try to hide that fact. They just played back the recorded dances on the monitors around the studio.

Friends of mine went to a taping of the new Gladiators (lord knows why). They were apparently only taping one of the games and the female host kept fluffing her lines, causing the taping to go on and on and on. One of my friend was lucky enough to heckle one of the large male "gladiators" which seemed to break the monotony.

They were there for 6 hours. They left before the taping had even been completed.

went and saw a taping of family fued early last year. It was really fun actually. Pete Smith kept the audience laughing during the production breaks and Lucky Phil (the cameraman / Floor Manager from Hey Hey) was tellin really funny jokes about his wife. Bert was typical Bert, very professional but didnt have much intereaction with the audience. There were lots of giveaways and thinks to do so you didnt get bored. All up it took 2 hours to do 2 shows.
Went to a couple of Hey Hey Its Saturday but thats another story..without gettin sued, somebody loves to down endless glasses of red wine during taping!!

I went to a taping of Gladiators YEARS ago, when it first started. Because it hadn't been on tv yet, we didnt know anything about the show, we didn't know the names of the gladiators. It was filmed at the Entertainment Centre at Brisbane. I was probably like 11 or 12 at the time, so the memory is a little fazy. I remember it took HOURS for them to set everything up. We could only barely hear the hosts, and that's how we got to hear only a few of the gladiators names. So we'd be cheering for a certain gladiator but have no idea who they were or where they were on the floor. We left before the last round, because it dragged on and took so long to set up everything.

I am 12 and was on It's Academic last year. It's a ripper time and we got to the Grand Final so actually remembered a lot of people from crew. Simon's great in real life, really nice and very tall! Simon only stuffs up a few times each show, so each show probably takes 45 minutes to film and is great fun. They film all five episodes in one day, over about 5 hrs. Jenny the Floor Manager is really nice and so are all of the audience warmers! The clapping is also half fake. There is backing applause but we had to clap slightly too. Loved it!

I scored tickets to go to a Monday Midday recording of So You Think You Can Dance (aus). It was for the group performance (which we had to watch 4 times so they could record different angles of the performance each time), The Veronica's performing and for the part where they pre-record Natalie saying the judges are going backstage to deliberate. All throughout this recording session the judges are not present yet on monday nights verdict show you can see them comment on the group performance even though they weren't physically present for it.

Fun arvo at GNW recorded at the Melb Int Comedy Festival at Melb Town Hall. Must say I was surprised to see the floor manager do the warm up tho, a decided lack of energy (there are so many who could do this well). Still everyone lifted once Paul McDermott came out for a preliminary chat. Lots of jokes at the expense of elderly and Geelong patrons. The recording of the show was great fun, if long. During all the breaks the panel kept up the vibe. The filming of the segments was free enough to allow gags that were off the subject, blue, indulgent and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed it. Good luck to the editors! Visiting comic Reginald D. Hunter was so daunting with his sheer physical size and deep 'Barry White' voice, everyone just seemed to shut up whenever he decided to add comment. A funny guy. And spare a thought for the crew having to sweep up all that litter and glitter that boomed across the stage. McDermott only fluffed a few lines, it was all good fun.

To David Knox at the GNW that wasn't JUST a floor manager doing the warm up, that was Ted Robinson (the producer and god father of Australian comedy television.

That's one of the many traditions of GNWTV Productions.

Things to look out for in the next two weeks of airing are the 'smoke in a can prop' and Ross Noble with a guitar but if only everyone could have been there, because some of the stuff that can't possibly aired was awesome.

Thanks for the clarification, I was sitting a long way back and he wasn't introduced. Ted Robinson is indeed a legend in live comedy production. Been watching a lot of warm up men lately, there are some brilliant guys around.

I went to see a taping of the new comedy impro show for The Comedy Channel/ABC caled Comedy Slapdown today. The comedians were (red team) Damian Callinhan, Paul McCarthy, Natalie Garonzi - and (blue team) was Russell Fletcher, Emily Taheny and Liam Amour. Hosted by HG Nelson and the special guest was Brian Mc Fadden.
The show went very quickly for a studio record. The show was a series of 'impro' games, that were actually clearly improvised and the comedians were really quite funny. It was all set in a boxing ring and given a WWF feel. Surprisingly the stand out performer was Natalie Garonzi, former host of that horrid show The Mint on 9, who was VERY funny and stole the show. Also between the breaks came and chatted with the audience a lot. Also Damian Callinhan was funny too. Very impressed with it. Great formula. Look forward to seeing the entire series.

I had the same problem as TelevisionAU (23 Feb) - although I knew what i was going in for - "Surprise, Surprise" (what a crock of shit it was).

And of course, that was the episode where it was all shot off-set, so all we ended up doing for a good hour and a bit was clapping and laughing to TV monitors. Ho hum.

I used to love going to Pot Luck in the 90's though, became a bit of a regular. Sad, isn't it ?

i went to last years opening show at Big Brother. I was sitting with all the reporters or the radio personalities, as i was one of the people testing the set. Mike Goldman was warming everyone and by the time he was telling us to yell and scream about 10 times, i got over it. The only thing they filmed was the contestants profile and housemates popping out on stage and walking across the ramp. also the "lets look inside the house" and we were told to make ooh aah sounds, which quite frankly was annoying. during the film breaks, Goldman would start throwing out merchandise to the audience.

During the filming, the one controversy was that someone who i knew doing the testing of the set, was kicked out after being accused of filming the live show on his video phone. he wasnt at all remotely filming it, but one of the former housemates pointed the finger at him, and got kicked out.

While i got the tixs for free, it was such a waste of time being there. i wouldnt pay money to be in the audience.
