UCLA Retired Jersey Numbers


1990
#32  Bill Walton
#33  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
        (Lew Alcindor)

On February 3, 1990, Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar both had their uniform numbers retired.  The ceremony was held during halftime of the UCLA-DePaul game and was a key moment in the "Pauley at 25" celebration during the 1989-90 season.  It marked the first time any Bruin basketball numbers had been retired.  Both players earned consensus All-America honors three times.

#31  Ed O'Bannon
#35  Sidney Wicks
#42  Walt Hazzard
#54  Marques Johnson

During halftime of the UCLA-Oregon game on February 1, 1996, the jersey numbers of Ed O'Bannon, Sidney Wicks, Walt Hazzard, and Marques Johnson were retired.  All four Bruin legends were members of NCAA championship basketball teams at UCLA and had been named National Players of the Year during their collegiate careers.


2004
#25  Gail Goodrich

On December 18, 2004 Gail Goodrich had his jersey number retired at halftime of the UCLA-Michigan contest.  The game also commemorated the 30th anniversary of UCLA's first NCAA championship basketball team.  Goodrich is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
