About

I teach American literature and cultural studies at Penn State University. I've written for a variety of academic and popular venues, such as the New York Times Magazine, American Quarterly, Dissent, The Common Review, The Nation, and the minnesota review, a recent issue of which includes this interview with me.

For spring 2008, I'm teaching a graduate seminar on disability studies in the humanities.

Once upon a time, I had a "web" "log" of my very own. Its archives (2004-07) are here. These days, I can occasionally be found blogging at Crooked Timber, Pandagon, or the TPM Café.
