Kidd's Punishment

Did anyone else watch the Dallas/Hornets game last night?  It was a good game, but Dallas just doesn't have the firepower to keep up anymore.  Jason Terry looked like the team star more then Kidd or Dirk in my opinion.  Dirk plays just like the Suns.  They're both good in the regular season because no one cares enough to exert the energy to shut them down for a single game.  But once playoffs come, you simply hastle them, disrupt their games, and they're no good.

Anyway, to the real point.  Jason Kidd's foul last night.  He was the lone defender against two guys clearly more athletic then he.  He simply fouled him and made sure he didn't make the bucket.  There is no way that he could have stopped himself in the speed of the play from accidentally grabbing the players neck.  For all he knew, he could have been pulling his shoulder down.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that a) he got a flagarant 2 for the play, and b) that there were actually talks of suspending him for the next game.  You're talking about an All-Star and Hall of Fame caliber player, making a thurough defensive foul during a pretty big game, and you think about suspending him after kicking him out of a game already?  I think the NBA needs to relook it's new-found protection policy.

Jason Kidd or not, that play should have never constituted an ejection.  It's the playoffs, and teams win or go home.  As it appears now, it's either "play soft or go home."

What are your thoughts about last night's Flagarant 2 called on Jason Kidd?

I think it was a good call by the refs. Just like in other games the players have to adjust to the way the officials are calling the game. Kidd could have hurt that Hornets player. Kidd didn't need to foul the Hornet player the way he did. You just have to foul the guy hard enough so that he won't make the shot, you don't need to drag him down by his neck. It was a pure frustration foul by Kidd.

You're forgetting about the thought process behind the type-2 flagrant foul. J Kidd was right to be kicked out because of the "follow-through". Had he simply fouled him, he probably would have been ok, but it was the hand on Pargo as he went down that did Kidd in. Besides, he probably would have caught another Jersey headache and asked to be pulled. All jokes aside, I think J Kidd is a great PG, a definite hall-of-famer, but he was just frustrated. It doesn't matter who Dallas picks up, they won't win. Avery is an ok coach, just not after the regular season. Let's hope Dallas is dumped before anyone on New Orleans gets hurt....Dallas & J Kidd are cursed and it's all because of the way Kidd did NJ dirty....Sometimes you get absolutely what you asked for.....
