Ausiello on Bones, 24, Lost, The Office, Grey's and More!

Question: Are Booth and Brennan going to do any more kissing this season on Bones? — S.W.
Ausiello: Probably not this season. But next season? You betcha. Exec producer Hart Hansen confirms that the two Bs will "definitely" lock lips for real sometime in Season 4. "I figure, we're going into [our fourth season]," he says, "and we've had the fake kiss. So we need to go to the next step." At this rate, I'm guessing the rest of their relationship will unfold thusly:

Season 5: Sex
Season 6: Marriage
Season 7: Baby Bones
Season 8: Sarah Michelle Gellar turns up as Booth's never-before-seen demon-hunting ex.
Question: You can't just leave me hanging as to why Bones is looking for a new full-time forensic anthropologist. Who's leaving? — Katie
Ausiello: Actually, I just double-checked the Ask Ausiello rulebook, and I can leave you hanging. Not only that, but I can even heighten your anxiety if I want. Which reminds me: Did I tell you about the two deaths coming up? One of them occurs in the May 12 episode, the other in the May 19 season finale.
Question: Do you have any Bones scoop? — Gerri
Ausiello: I'm trying to think of something that's bigger than the kiss and the two deaths I just told you about. Oh, here's something: There's a very good chance that the fourth-season premiere will air on Aug. 26 and be two hours long. And that's not the best part. No, the best part is waiting for you in this week's Ausiello Report vodcast!
Question: Any 24 scoop? We need something to hang onto until the show comes back.— Ann
Ausiello: You're in luck, 'cause one of my CTU moles just dropped a major scoopbit on my lap. Remember when I told you last summer that 24 execs were forced to scrap plans to shoot a chunk of Season 7 on location in Africa due to budgetary concerns on the part of Fox? Well, apparently someone found some extra dough lying around, because I hear producers are currently scouting locations in Africa to film scenes for this fall's two-hour prequel movie.
Question: Is Grey's Anatomy laying the groundwork for a Callie and Hahn coupling? — Timothy
Question: I would love some new Grey's Anatomy scoop. — Clare
Ausiello: Curious as to what prompts Callie to turn to Mark in her time of need? Then you might want to check out this week's Ausiello Report vodcast. And please forgive the date discrepancy. For some reason that only my pharmacist knows, I said the episode airs on March 8 instead of May 8.
Question: Considering the title of the Office season finale is "Goodbye, Toby," I guess it's safe to say that Paul Lieberstein is the one leaving the show. — Julie
Ausiello: Kinda-sorta safe, anyway. But get this — that's not the twist that prompted producers to turn the set into Fort Knox. Nooo. According to several well-placed birdies, whose decision to sing to me like the proverbial canary was clearly in breach of their confidentiality agreements, there are three even bigger plot twists that will profoundly impact Angela, Dwight, Andy, Jan, Toby, Michael, Jim and Pam. I will now possibly reveal what those three twists are among (or not) the following six options (Possible Major Spoiler Alert): an engagement, a death, an infidelity, a pregnancy, a fire and a coming-out. Let the wild speculation begin!
Question: I freaked out when I read that Amy Ryan of The Wire will guest-star in the season finale of The Office! Do you know if this is a one-shot deal, or is she joining the cast for multiple episodes? — Matt
Ausiello: Not sure, but I'm hearing that she's playing Toby's replacement, a pretty young thing with whom Michael becomes instantly enamored. And by "enamored" I mean horny.
Question: Any scoop on Sarah Connor Chronicles? — Desiree
Ausiello: Two scoops, as it were. The show is hunting for a couple of new regulars: Becky, a hot teenaged hipster, and Catherine, an unusually earthy business bigwig in her early forties. Which leads me to believe that young John is about to get a girlfriend. Because of the new teenager, I mean, not the 40-year-old female Bill Gates. Although, now that I mention it, he does have some mother issues.
Question: Has there been any news from Amy Sherman-Palladino about the Gilmore Girls TV-movie? — Tammy
Ausiello: No, but here's something fun: One of my Broadway spies spotted Team Palladino in the audience at Xanadu last Saturday night. Amy and Dan apparently loved the show so much that they bid $300 for a Xanadu teddy bear at a charity auction immediately following the performance — and they didn't even take the prize! And before you ask, yes, Amy was wearing one of her ginormous Dr. Seuss hats.
Question: In last week's Ask Ausiello, you said Nestor Carbonell would be appearing in Locke's flashback episode of Lost on May 1. Did you mean May 8? — Craig
Ausiello: Sure did! Sorry for any confusion that caused. Let me make it up to you with some scoop: In the same episode — in a flashback scene that perhaps represents the narrative device's greatest leap in time so far on the series — we'll bear witness to a historic event that has significant repercussions on "present-day" events on the island.
Question: Can we please have some real Battlestar Galactica scoop for a change?! Seriously. — Joel
Ausiello: Simmer the frak down, Joel, 'cause I've got some Grade A BSG prattle for you: I hear the search for Earth may not take as long as some people think.
Question: During the writers' strike you always had One Tree Hill news. Now that the strike is over — nothing for weeks. Just because you don't like the show doesn't mean you should pretend it doesn't exist. — Cindy
Ausiello: Believe me, I know it exists. As much as I try to escape those promos during Gossip Girl, I can't. Just kidding. I escape them just fine, thanks to my friend Mr. FauxVo. Anywho, here's an admittedly overdue OTH spoiler: Two characters who you would never in a million years imagine hooking up do just that in this season's penultimate episode. Guesses? Post 'em in the Ask Ausiello Discussion Thread!
Question: How about a One Tree Hill spoiler about Lindsey/Lucas/Peyton! What's coming up? — Annie
Ausiello: A doozy of a cliff-hanger, that's what's coming up. (Hint: The final scene may or may not feature Lucas and a telephone.)
Question: Got anything on Damages? — Jennifer
Ausiello: Kinda sorta. Look for the show's perfectly creepy villain Zeljko Ivanek to turn up in Numbers' May 16 finale as a skilled and dedicated counter-terrorism expert from D.C. who comes to Los Angeles when a series of kidnappings leads the FBI to a terror cell. Also in that episode, Crossing Jordan's Ravi Kapoor plays a friend and colleague of Charlie's who gets caught up in the FBI's investigation. Teases exec producer Cheryl Heuton: "Charlie and Don find themselves in conflict over controversial issues involved in the case."
Question: I am a fanatical fan of NCIS. Any more news or clues about who is going to be murdered?— Dolores
Ausiello: Nope, but here's something to focus your nervous energy on whilst you wait for tragedy to strike: A super-fun "Who's Gonna Die" poll! Woo-hoo!
Question: Anything new with Moonlight? Do you know if there is going to be a second season yet? — Hailey
Ausiello: The show held its own in the ratings last Friday, so I'd say its chances are improving.
Question: OK, Mr. A., stop playing with your Smurfs and answer this: What's the deal with The Unit — is it coming back or not? — Alex
Ausiello: It changes from week to week. This week I'm hearing it'll probably get picked up for 13 episodes. But ask me again next week.
Question: Can we get some early news on a possible Season 3 pickup for Dirt? — Kevin
Ausiello: Not sure if we should read anything into this, but Dirt's Ryan Eggold just got cast in the CW's 90210 update. Fingers crossed!
Question: I am trying to get a job as a writer for TV Guide. How did you get your foot in the door? Do you know of anyone that I could contact that isn't listed on the website? — Robert
Ausiello: Funny you should ask that today of all days, Robert, because starting May 8, you can bid on the doodle I did to benefit NF, Inc., an organization that provides support to folks and families affected by neurofibromatosis. "What's that?" you ask. It's a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. (Dallas' Pam Ewing had it, you may recall.) You can check out my drawing, along with everyone from Ellen DeGeneres to Scarlett Johansson's, at Thanks again for asking!

OK, that's all the scoop for this week. You know the drill. Feedback goes here. Questions/hot tips/Keri Russell sightings go here. See ya back here next week! — Additional reporting by Damian Holbrook, Ben Katner and Mickey O'Connor
