Purpose: created to protect the spartina marshes, an important habitat for the American Black Duck.
Feature Bird: American Black Duck
Feature Plants: salt-water cord grass, salt-meadow grass, fresh-water cord-grass, jack pine

Salt marshes riddled with tide pools and vast expanses of cord grass-dominated meadow are home to a proliferation of many types of invertebrates and makes the Baie de L’Isle-Verte National Wildlife Area a site of premier importance for the American Black Duck.
