Gyroscope Breed Obsession Tour sells out! Posted
on May 6 2008 by the Music News Desk
In less than a week, Gyroscope will embark on their national Breed Obsession Tour, with the shows in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Melbourne (Over 18’s) already sold out, and tickets to Sydney and Melbourne (Under 18’s) selling quickly.
To coincide with the tour, Warner Music Australia will be servicing the third single, ‘Australia’ from the #1 album ‘Breed Obsession’.
The first single ‘Snakeskin’ is currently featured in all Network 10 promotions for the AFL season, and debuted at #30 on the ARIA singles chart and #16 on Triple J’s 2007 Hottest 100. ‘Breed Obsession’ also features the anthemic second single ‘1981’, which was added straight to high rotation on Triple J and sees the more melodic side of Gyroscope.
Gyroscope is now following up this success with ‘Australia’, a track that confirms “Gyroscope are equally capable of creating softer numbers as well as the harder hitting ones”. www.fasterlouder.com.au
‘Australia’ is an inspiring, soulful anthem that takes Gyroscope’s songwriting to new heights. Instantly engaging, with pared-back acoustic guitar and Sanders’ intimate delivery, ‘Australia’ soars through Nassif’s strong marching-band beat and the lush melodic arrangement with perfectly placed orchestral flourishes.
“This was a really fitting song for the album,” says vocalist, Sanders. “It was essentially written about myself leaving England as a tot and coming to Australia, and then growing up here, appreciating and embracing our culture and heritage and falling in love with it all. I wanted to express it for my own sake,'' he said. ``So I could rejoice in what I love about this country.”
Bright, wondrous and full of life, the song captures the essence of its inspiration. The song prompted www.news.com to comment that “Australia is a haven of unofficial anthems… But a new song, Australia, by Perth band Gyroscope, is set to spark feelings of national pride.” (Nui Te Koha - 8.3.08)
