Garden Centres
: In most Garden Centres you’ll find an extensive outdoor plant area, a garden shop offering everything from packets of seed to patio furniture and a houseplant and gift shop bursting with gift ideas. Many offer hard landscaping materials from pots and planters to paving and fencing, and also wildlife and water gardening sections. Garden Centres will also have somewhere to eat and drink in relaxing and pleasant surroundings.

The UK has a mix of small businesses and national or regional chains. Garden centre chains in the UK include
Wyevales, Hillier, Notcutts and Squires.  The DIY chains B&Q and Homebase also have garden centres, often with a wide range gardening products and ranging from garden plants through to garden sheds. Some open air attractions (eg, National Trust properties, the RHS Garden, Wisley, Westonbirt Arboretum) also run small garden centres as additional sources of revenue.

Garden Centres usually obtain their plant supplies from nurseries or from specialist wholesalers. One of the major opportunities for Garden Centres to buy from the horticultural Trade is at GLEE, which occupies nearly the entire NEC at Birmingham. The peak business seasons in the UK are spring (March to June) and autumn (September and October). A garden centre offers more products and services than the traditional nursery which mainly retails plants.  You can even find bird food, bird tables, next boxes, bird baths and garden bird books - just CLICK HERE  for more information. And if you want a lasting gift join the RSPB .............just CLICK on the banner below

Hard Landscaping : The hard landscape is a key part of the structure of a garden.
Hard Landscaping hard should be attractive and in keeping with the house and the rest of the garden and is usually the most expensive part of the design and build of a garden. It's going to be there for a long time so it's important to get the choice of materials and design right and go for the best materials you can afford. There's more to hard-landscaping than just paving it also includes all the non-green stuff like aggregates block paving coarse sand gravel slate stone timber crushed concrete gabions ballast edging garden lighting garden fencing, garden walls, brickwork, garden paving, patio flagstones, garden decking, retainer walls, pergolas railway sleepers and pond liners.

Soft Landscaping
: Soft Landscaping involves the "green bits" of creating your garden including garden topsoil, garden turf, garden plants, shrubs and trees, against the positioning of architectural structures, such as garden buildings, garden sheds, gazebos, timber arches and trellises. Soft landscaping is vital to all gardens, not only does a well planted garden look attractive but it adds character and charm and needs to be planned to take into account which areas of the garden are lit and shaded at different periods throughout the day, the soil type and draining. You may want to go for an artificial lawn and if you don't and use turf or grass seed you will need to add garden composts, garden bark and mulches, fertilisers and perhaps loams and top dressings. Water gardening is ever popular and you can find everything you need by visiting one of the water gardening specialist nurseries or buy ONLINE from mail order supplier Bradshaws Direct who offer one of the widest range of pond products and pond liners.

You may want to design your own garden, employ a garden designer or a landscaper who can design and build your garden. Within your design you may want to include a water fountain or water feature, perhaps some decking; paving or a patio or you may prefer a green lawn. You might also want to add ornaments and pots, a feature such as a gardening sculpture or statuary. We have a wide range of affordable garden scultures and statuary and the sculptors on THE Gardening WEBSITE work in stone, wood, ceramics, metal and stainless steel - even wire wool.

For pure enjoyment of your garden there is a wide range of Garden art aswell as barbeques, fabulous garden furniture – seats, tables, loungers and including hammocks which allow you to enjoy your garden in the day and with the addition of the right garden lighting, into the evening.

We include the garden shed right through to fabulous conservatories and garden offices.
