Learn from a
Master
Eduard
Zelkind, six-time Minnesota State Chess Champion and FIDE Chess
Master, is one of the most accomplished and respected chess teachers
in the country, as well as one of the highest ranked competitive
players in Minnesota.
Ed was a professional chess coach in the former Soviet Union
for 7 years, and has been coaching chess in the United States for
the past 15 years.
Developing Young Talent For More Than Two
Decades
Ed's
unique teaching style, which combines the time-tested techniques of
the great Russian chess schools with the gentle, insightful, and
patient pace of a father and grandfather, has been proven successful
time and time again. Ed has helped develop the talent of many of the
state's young chess stars, from Sean Nagle to John Bartholomew,
(National High School Champion, 2002). Like Sean and John, many of
Ed's students continue to thrive and develop into some of the top
chess players in the country.

"By playing chess, then, we may learn:
First, foresight... secondly, circumspection... thirdly, caution...
and lastly, we learn by chess the habit of not being discouraged by
present bad appearances in the state of our affairs; the habit of
hoping for a favorable chance, and that of persevering in the search
of resources." --Benjamin Franklin |
