This quote becomes even more interesting when combined with a quote from Senator Barry Goldwater's 1962 book, "Why Not Victory".
Goldwater explains that the United States Senate approved the United Nations (UN) because the State Department assured it that " . . . it [UN] in no sense constituted a form of World Government and that neither the Senate nor the American people need be concerned that the United Nations or any of its agencies would interfere with the sovereignty of the United States or with the domestic affairs of the American People."
