WATSON NAMED US NAVY GOALIE OF THE YEAR
Rock veteran wins award for first time since 2001
The National Lacrosse League has announced that Bob Watson of the Toronto Rock has been named the 2008 US Navy Goaltender of the Year Award.
The 37-year-old goalie tallied a 78.6% save percentage and a 10.34 goals against average, good for fifth and third in the league, respectively, while playing 825 minutes in net this season.
The award is Watson's first in seven years, and third overall. He won back-to-back Goaltender of the Year honors with the Rock in 2000 and 2001.
Previous winners of the award include; Anthony Cosmo (2007), Steve Dietrich (2005 & 2006), Gee Nash (2004), Pat O'Toole (2003) and Rob Blasdell (2002).
