Kura Productions, the joint venture between South Pacific Pictures and Quinton Hita, will shoot its first television series Kupuhuna later this year.

Kupuhuna (Password) is a 48 x 30min language-based game show which will screen on the Maori Television Service. The format pairs fluent Te Reo Maori speakers with second-language learners, forming teams who compete for prize money. The more fluent team member is given a hidden Maori word and earns points by communicating the word to their partner using clues in Te Reo. By combining different levels of fluency in a fun and competitive environment, Kupuhuna is designed to be both entertaining and educational.
