| Mr. Avineri may be basing his article on a false assumption that there is a Palestinian nation. There were Arabs living in the area called Palestine but they were never a nation, just a people living there. Their splintered groups were operating as family/clan/tribal entities. Each of them was out to take over the area and run it for their group not for a non-existent "Palestine." They still don`t have the basis for running a nation. Hating the Jew and the destruction of Israel is the driving force behind them. Perhaps when they set their sights on building a nation like the Yishuv did, will an Arab Palestine come into being. |
