The West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority is a political body, a joint authority of the seven Metropolitan Councils of the West Midlands. It was established by the Local Government Act 1985 and sets policies and budgets for the public sector transport responsibilities in the County of West Midlands. The Authority has 27 Members who are Councilors nominated by the seven Metropolitan Councils. It is advised by Centro, (the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive). Centro is the professional body which advises the PTA and carries out its policies.

The Chair of the Authority is Councillor Gary Clarke.

The Authority and its Committees meet on a regular basis and members of the public are welcome at its meetings.

There are three "Transport Users' Advisory Committees" and four Transport Users' Forums and members of the public are also welcome at these meetings.

The Authority welcomes your comments on matters relating to the provision of public passenger transport in the West Midlands County area.
