Democratic Services

 
Democratic Services are often referred to as "Committees" or "Member Services".  We support the democratic process by co-ordinating the collation and despatch of agendas and the preparation and distribution of minutes.
 

 

The Council is made up of 44 Members representing 19 Wards.  The current Political Balance (as at 02/05/2008) is:

Meetings of the Council are open to the public.
 
At Cabinet, Scrutiny Panel and Local Area Committees, members of the public can speak on most agenda items.  Advice for public participation at local area committees
 
At Full Council meetings the public can only speak on items that have been recommended to Council for decision.

In addition to Borough Councillors, the area is represented by two Members of Parliament and seven County Councillors.  There are also eight Parish Councils.
