BHP Billiton to mop up minority in WMC after taking over 90 pct

LONDON (AFX) - BHP Billiton PLC said it will now compulsorily acquire the outstanding shares in Australian base metals and uranium miner WMC Resources Ltd after taking its stake to 90.59 pct.

BHP's 9.2 bln aud takeover of WMC ends tonight.

The dual-listed Anglo-Australian resources group took a controlling stake in WMC early in the month via its recommended 7.85 aud a share offer.
