223. Chase (1847-1912) was the first American Baha'i. An insurance salesman and a Swedenborgian, he was converted by Ibrahim Khayrullah in 1894. Having penned a number of pamphlets about the Baha'i cause, he produced the present work after his return from a pilgrimage to Acre in 1907.
