HONOLULU – Aloha Airlines today announced that it has designated Pacific Air Cargo as the highest bidder for its Contract Services division.  Aloha’s decision was made at the conclusion of a bidding process after consultation and agreement with its lead lender, GMAC Commercial Finance, and the Creditors Committee.  The final outcome of the bidding for the Contract Service division is subject to approval of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

“We are gratified to have this bidder come forward to preserve the jobs of our employees and to continue the important work of providing aviation services in Hawaii,” said David A. Banmiller, president and chief executive officer of Aloha Airlines.

Aloha’s Contract Services division employs more than 1,000 people and provides key ground-support services for domestic and international airlines at Hawaii’s airports.  These services cover a broad range of passenger and aircraft maintenance handling.

“We’re excited about the prospect of this acquisition as it allows Pacific Air Cargo to expand the range of its air transportation services in Hawaii,” said Beti A. Ward, chief executive officer of Pacific Air Cargo.

“We’re an experienced company that prides itself on providing premier customer service to our air cargo customers and we intend to deliver that same high level of service to the airline clients, who are accustomed to being served so well by Aloha.

“Pacific Air Cargo is committed to utilizing Aloha’s vibrant and talented workforce to continue serving the people of Hawaii and visitors from all over the world,” said Ward. “We look forward to working with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation on a smooth transition.”

Pacific Air Cargo provides exclusive express cargo service between Honolulu and Los Angeles using Boeing 747 freighters.  The company also operates a Boeing 727 freighter to and from Honolulu and Pago Pago, American Samoa.  Its founder and chief executive officer Beti Ward has more than 20 years experience in the Hawaii aviation market.  Pacific Air Cargo last year opened a 65,000 square-foot facility at the Honolulu International Airport.
