Place With Most Space Wynns Out In a shot across the bow to his Las Vegas competitors, Steve Wynn has announced plans to secure a stronghold in the city's tradeshow arena. Earlier this month, in a first-quarter earnings conference call, the hotel mogul revealed his intentions to add more than 1 million square feet of convention space to the company's inventory.
PRI Is Too Big for Indiana's Britches When the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show left Indianapolis after its 2004 show, it was with a promise to come back as soon as the Indiana Convention Center & RCA Dome expanded enough to handle the fast-growing event. Unfortunately, even before the expansion could be completed in time for that anticipated 2011 return, PRI show organizers already know it was going be too little too late.
Walker Resigns From Washington Authority Reba Pittman Walker, the general manager and CEO of the Washington Convention Center Authority, which oversees the Walter E. Washington (D.C.) Convention Center, said she was resigning her post effective May 30 citing “personal reasons.” Walker has been with the authority since January 2006.
Nielsen Ups Tompkins Nielsen Business Media's Andy Tompkins just got a lot busier. Along with his day job as show director for the Action Sports Retailer World Trade Expo, an action sports apparel, footwear, accessories and hard goods tradeshow, Tompkins also has been named group show director for the entire Action Sports Retailer, Cycling and Fitness Groups.
