Looking for the EText Center?

The EText Center is now the Scholars' Lab

The staff expertise formerly shared through the EText Center can now be found at the Scholars' Lab located on the main floor of Alderman Library. Supporting the digital scholarship needs of faculty and students in the humanities and social sciences, the Scholars' Lab unfies methods of text creation and analysis established by the EText Center with other important modes of critical inquiry such as GIS, statistical analysis, and custom programming.

The digital collections created by the EText Center—as well as other images and texts in the U.Va. Library collection—are now available at the U.Va. Library's digital collections site. For a short time, these collection will also remain in their old location. Faculty, staff, and student projects and online journals and publications not yet migrated to our new, sustainable environment are still available in their old locations as well.

The Electronic Text Center (1992-2007), known to many as "Etext," served the University community's teaching and research needs in the areas of humanities text encoding for over fifteen years. More information about the mission and history of the Etext Center is now available.
