this video was stupid. also

this video was stupid. also your view is skewed. you seem to have the republicrat ideology (i'm assuming your own if you align with the democrat wing of the republicrat party) confused with the libertarian. and so what if ron paul wants to shut down the institutions that reduce our citizens into semi-literate idiots? can't people be dumb enough without spending trillions of public money?

Big ups for making fun of

Big ups for making fun of the sickly old coots that run your country. USA surely needs a good healing.

Wow, how sadly misinformed

Wow, how sadly misinformed you are. No wonder there are so many haters (who aren't proud of their country on a regular basis -- Michelle Obama). Maybe they're just confused.
And why is religion now a reason to criticize a candidate? Is faith really such a horrible attribute?
Let me get this straight - no electing white guys (especially fat ones), CHECK! And no electing people who believe in God, CHECK CHECK!

"Is faith really such a

"Is faith really such a horrible attribute?"

Judging by the results of having a man of faith in the Whitehouse
for the past 7 years, I`d have to say "Yes".

I'd have to say that I

I'd have to say that I really don't think that the religiousness of a candidate matters. What matters is how much they base the laws that they make on their religion and how much it affects their thinking.
Huckabee's religion would probably effect his political thinking too much for it to be a good idea to elect him.

Nothing like showing your biases.

Why are Americans electing to have all the same old same old?

The only one worth considering for president is Ron Paul. And
yes, I like the idea of Ralph Nadar.

I am also for a no-parties system. Every one runs as an independent.

Thank you for covering Ron

Thank you for covering Ron Paul. You did it inaccurately, but at least he's there.

Why not do a cartoon about the country going bankrupt (you know, $9 trillion debt to countries like Saudi Arabia and China, which comes out to $30,000 for every man, woman, and child). You can show all the candidates pretending that nothing is happening, and Ron Paul struggling to get the public's attention. Would be a good one.

I really don't want huckabee

I really don't want huckabee to win. I mean, he's a republican who's views of politics are influenced by the church. I'm a non-religious democrat. what would you expect to happen?

I am a liberal who took a look at Obama....BRIEFLY. There is no "there" there. I was invited to a Ron Paul meet up group, and was almost instantly sold. While I am pro choice and Paul is a pro life obstetrician and great-grandfather, I grasp his position: let the states sort it out: some will ban abortion, others will allow and even pay for it. Personally opposing abortion is different from prohibiting it, and Ron Paul would pass no laws against abortion. He is also religious (I am an avowed aethiest) but believes there is NO PLACE for religion in government. On same sex marriage (I have friends who have chosen this bourgeois path) he has no problem: "they can form any solemn and contractual relationships they want and call it whatever they want".. I can respect that. And I suspect many other progressives will, too.

...And what happens to poor

...And what happens to poor women who happen to live in the wrong state?

They can move or they can

They can move or they can stop having sex. I am pro-choice. But when the cost of birth control is less than the cost of having an abortion, choose birth control.

If Ron Paul had a uterus,

If Ron Paul had a uterus, his view might change. If men could get pregnant, abortion wouldn't even be an issue...

I really don't understand

I really don't understand the trumpeting of abortion as this great step for woman's rights, like there is something morally positive about getting an abortion. I'm not for a legal limiting of abortion. I just think people should see abortion as a necessary medical procedure in case something goes wrong and not an escape hatch to avoid the responsibility of raising a child.

Abortion is at best a painful difficulty that mothers must go through because of medical complications. At worst, it's the snuffing out of a life in the name of convenience. I see nothing progressive about abortion and I wish it wasn't joined to the hip of the Democratic party.

Why all that big huff about

Why all that big huff about abortion? Its all about killing a living being? Get real, we kill people every day and without a second thought (Irak comes to mind as with most of the other countries we have come to bomb in the past several years). Please don't give me the speach about sanctaty of life when we can't even take care of those who are already outside of their mothers womb. And good if there's abortion, there's too many of us on this turf anyways!

I think the issue around

I think the issue around abortion and why it is seen by many as a woman's rights issue is because it is about being in control of your reproductive rights -- that no governmental body can tell you when you can or when you cannot have a child. I think often times, we exclude the "when you cannot have a child" from the debate.

There have been times in American history when women, particularly women of color reproductive rights were stolen from them -- forced sterilization, both chemical and physical, just as recently as the 90s, Black women in the south were being ordered by judges to have norplant or force jail time -- sadly enough, many of those involved in the women's movement were silent.

We live in a country which

We live in a country which has lost it's footing on morality. I'm not saying it ever had one...what with the slavery, Jim Crowe laws and the continued oppression and propaganda machine. But addressing the abortion issue, it is a safety net for irresponsible sex. The only way people get married anymore is after sleeping around with X number of other fornicators. While the majority believes they're Christian, what does the Bible say about this behavior?

Those who don't believe in religion, why get married? After all it is a legal accomodation for a RELIGIOUS mandate! That's what gets me about the "civil union" crap. The non-religion folks should instead ENCOURAGE the religion nuts to bring back the biblical laws! The majority that way, will be stoned to death and the non-religionists will be the new majority at which time they can change the laws!

In any case, none of these absolutely STUPID issues have any bearing in my life or my decisions. The media, however, will trumpet these issues so essentially like-minded individuals can take opposing sides. How brainwashed the average person is amazes me.

Then why are women more

Then why are women more likely to sympathize with the pro-life side?

Maybe all of those women

Maybe all of those women have the same first name. Molly !

The Department of Education

The Department of Education is as pro-education as the Patriot Act is pro-freedom. Ron Paul isn't anti-education, he wishes to empower the states to keep their money and make their own decisions. He's also an outspoken supporter of home-schooling.

i've always appreciated your

i've always appreciated your work, but why are you throwing Ron Paul in with the others? He's anti-imperialism, pro sound money..I guess you're not so much an independent thinker as you are a liberal.

So let me get this

So let me get this straight...to be an independent thinker, you have to be pro-Ron Paul. Seriously, who lacks independent thought?

Ron Paul is categorized as a Republican because his ideals are largely Republican: he wants to get rid of a federal system when it comes anything remotely populist, such as the Department of Education, which allows many otherwise ineligible poor kids to go to college; he wants to leave it up to the states on many issues (which would get rid of the repercussions of Roe v. Wade in a heartbeat), and he would get rid of the IRS, which would eliminate our primary source of income for social safety nets. Sounds Republican to me.

Oh, I'm aware Paul is a Libertarian...that's what scares me so. And one doesn't have to be a Libertarian to be an independent thinker. One could be...say...a populist or a socialist.

Whatever your political flavor, Mark, great job. I'm relieved to see you call a spade a spade.

Ron Paul is a right-wing

Ron Paul is a right-wing crank who is right about one thing - Iraq. But even on that, he's right because he's an isolationist.

Ron Paul doesn't believe in

Ron Paul doesn't believe in evolution (aka modern biology). I can't support a man who thinks the Discovery Channel is a good source of fiction.

Fiscal policy, international policy... all these are nothing compared to the threat of returning to 10th century superstitions and irrationality - the kind Ron Paul supports.

"returning to 10th century

"returning to 10th century superstitions and irrationality" is a far cry from someone daring to say they don't believe in a theory that has not and probably will never be corroborated. You are a perfect example of one of the fundamental flaws with the American electorate...not only not voting for someone because of what they believe about issues that do not really matter, but also using a baseless ad hominem by calling him a dark ages fundamentalist.

Ron Paul thinks "the

Ron Paul thinks "the Creator" created each and every one of us, and the precise manner, time, etc., he doesn't know but thinks it would make an interesting discussion, as opposed to policy. He proposes no policy whatsoever with regard to Evolution or its alternatives (which are abundant, by the way). He is a Constitutionalist after all. The President's personal beliefs being imposed on society would not be constitutional. Please read that last sentence again if you are unclear.

Questions regarding personal beliefs or lack thereof are ridiculous to present to any candidate. Policy is all that matters. Do you suppose it could have been another Hillary operative who asked the question? Ron Paul thought it was strange that it was asked of him, and so do I. You can find his own words on YouTube.

Instead of stopping corporatism and military adventurism, I think, instead, we should argue about guns, gold, and evolution while the corporations laugh all the way to the voluntary self-regulating bank. The dollar, however, certainly doesn't need a gold standard, it needs a lead standard. Which drops faster?

Whereas, it is true, that Constitutionalism and opposition to military adventurism are beliefs that belong to a different century--a pre-corporate one--I do not believe they are antiquated in the least. Why isn't the Kucinich campaign attacked for being from a different century? Because it isn't getting as much grass-roots support as Ron Paul, and therefore, isn't nearly as big a threat.

On how many left-wing websites has the comment, "Ron Paul doesn't believe in Evolutiton" magically appeared at the same time? Looks to me like someone is scared that independents are gravitating to Ron Paul at an alarming rate. Better play the personal beliefs card.

Sometimes it's too easy to

Sometimes it's too easy to get caught up in a red-vs-blue world of black and white. I'm a through-and-through liberal, but Ron Paul makes more sense than any of the Democratic candidates.

I'm a through-and-through

I'm a through-and-through liberal, but Ron Paul makes more sense than any of the Democratic candidates.

One of these two clauses is untrue.

well i'd assume that the one

well i'd assume that the one about Ron Paul making more sense than the democratic candidates is the untrue one.

Pretty funny, but the tough,

Pretty funny, but the tough, "God's Chosen Leader" theme doesn't fit Ron Paul. I can see why a socialist would have problems with him and want to lump him in with the rest of those pitiful buffoons, but it is intellectually dishonest to do so.
