Colette Cast as Mrs. Stone in the upcoming Feature Film, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery

Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery is a theatrical movie based on the American Girl character, Kit Kittredge, who lives in the Great Depression in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2008 in theatres everywhere. Recently, updated details on the Kit movie were posted on Varietys website, among others. It will be produced by Julia Roberts, released by Picturehouse, and written by Ann Peacock (Chronicles of Narnia). Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) has been chosen to play Kit Kittredge, the main character. Other cast members include, Joan Cusack, Chris O’Donnell, Jane Krakowski, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Julia Ormond, Stanley Tucci, Glenne Headly, Wallace Shawn, Willow Smith..Thanks Wikipedia!…..now on a more personal note, Im absolutely thrilled to be cast…Its a small role, but its a very dramatic one which I love to do…I originally auditioned for the role of one of the mothers at the garden tea party for Tina Gerussi ..I was a little freaked as this woman is one of the top casting directors in Toronto…and well, for the most part I always think I suck…but she was very kind, patient and warm..so I left feeling that I hadnt embarrassed myself…and then taadaa..I get a message that the director, Patricia Rozema, would like to see me and audition me for another part, Mrs. Stone…again, another very nice woman! She made me feel extremely comfortable and guided me through the audition…it was a pleasure!…so, as I said, Im thrilled to be cast!…and Im looking forward to the final product as I get to chase live chickens! Follow-up I had a blast!...it was a very long day of shooting(15hrs)starting at 5:30am but so enjoyable...everyone involved in this film were so pleasant! they all seemed very happy to be there, very professional and extremely patient...and I loved this director, Patricia Rozema..she made me feel like I had done a great job... so hopefully, if I dont end up on the cutting room floor Im actually looking forward to seeing my performance on screen. Hilights of the day... watching all the kids including Abigail Breslin and Willow Smith (Jada-Pinkett Smith and Will Smiths daughter) be just kids having fun, actually catching a chicken during my scene..my face was crying but in my mind Im screaming...I CAUGHT A CHICKEN, I CAUGHT A CHICKEN!, constantly apologizing to Julia Ormond for blubbering all over her during our scene and hoping that I didnt snot on her during each hug.

This years cast features volunteer performers from the community, along with celebrity performers. Im so excited to join a long list of female actors who have come together to collaborate and express universal ideas and emotions regarding violence against women and girls. Other celebrities who have starred in the play include: Jane Fonda, Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon, Oprah Winfrey, Winona Ryder and Whoopi Goldberg....really no sh*t!..thats how exciting this is!...now can you imagine if Tippi was to star in this...Im sure her vagina has alot to say!!! Both Shannon and I are honoured to be involved in this production and with such a stellar cast. I think this is such a wonderful opportunity to be involved in an event that not only celebrates women, raises awareness and allows us to envision a world without violence but the icing on the cake is that the proceeds will go to a very worthwhile, albeit unfortunately, an all too necessary organization, Interim Place For your information The Vagina Monologues was written in 1996 by Eve Ensler and is based on her interviews with more than 200 women. With humour and grace the piece celebrates womens sexuality and strength. The Vagina Monologues has been translated into 35 different languages and performed worldwide. Ensler was awarded the Obie Award in 1996 for Best New Play and in 1999 was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship Award in Playwriting. Ensler is a prominent anti-violence activist. In 1998, she founded V-Day as an extension of her play The Vagina Monologues. Today, her movement includes remarkable women around the world fighting to end sex abuse. Their personal stories of triumph over tragedy will inspire you to join the crusade… (Marie Claire 3/02). V-Day is a grassroots movement to stop violence against women and girls by raising awareness and funds within local communities through benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues For more information about the play and about V-day please visit www.vday.org.
