Delegates at Wales TUC Annual Conference in Llandudno have today (Wednesday 21 May), unanimously condemned the UK Government's continued attempts to hold down public sector pay below the rate of inflation and its policy of three-year pay deals in the public sector.

Public sector workers to 'speak up' to MPs in June
Teachers, health workers, probation officers, social workers, civil servants, childcare workers and firefighters will be among public service workers representing the six million public sector workers in the UK coming to London in June to lobby MPs over the future of public services and to call for fair pay, the TUC announced today (Wednesday).

More bad news for public servants in budget
Midlands TUC Regional Secretary Roger McKenzie said:
“There is more bad news for public servants hidden in the Budget small print. Departments already need to find five per cent “efficiency” savings and public services are facing cuts of £30 billion a year. This is already leading to such absurdities as cuts in tax inspectors that will inevitably affect tax receipts.

Union leaders meet with Chancellor to discuss public sector pay
TUC leaders this morning (Wednesday) met the Chancellor, the Chief Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR) to press the Government for a new approach on public sector pay to safeguard the living standards of all public servants.

TUC says failure to honour police pay award was 'a disastrous mistake'
