ACCREDITING AGENCY OR ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED STATES COMMISSIONER OF
Note: In the United States, many licensing authorities require accredited degree as
the basis for eligibility for licensing. In some cases, accredited colleges may not accept
for transfer courses and degrees completed at unaccredited colleges and some employers may
require an accredited degree as a basis for eligibility for employment.
However, the University of Northern Washington is accredited
by the American Association of Private Post-Secondary Education, and our Business
Administration and Information Systems programs have been critiqued, approved and
accredited by the Institute of Financial Consultants and by the Institute of Computer and
Professional Consultants, respectively. Degrees granted by the University of Northern
Washington are fully legal and authentic. All University of Northern Washington degrees
are attested and sealed for authenticity by a government appointed notary.
According to Philip Forte,
Accreditation is sometimes mistaken for governmental certification,
but it is not an official designation. Accreditation is essentially recognized by the
Federal Government as a mechanism for the authorization to distribute government

or the applicability of a degree to a job or the transfer of education credit is decided
by those who must render such evaluations for those specific purposes.
