[SBS/8:30pm] Cutting Edge: Will Israel Bomb Iran? – What is Israel's position regarding Iran's nuclear project? This documentary shows Israel's perspective of the threat of an attack by Iran, whose leaders aspire to produce nuclear weapons, and, with unique access to top Israeli politicians and defence officials, it explores whether a military strike against Iran is inevitable. Has the point of no return already been passed? (From the UK in English) CC WS
[SBS/10:00pm] All Aboard – Rosie’s Family Cruise – What is a family? Is it something defined by law, by tradition, or by love? For the growing numbers of gay and lesbian families in America, the answer is most definitely love – but too often, parents and children in such families are stigmatised, unable to participate in many of the simple, public joys that most families take for granted. For years, Rosie and Kelli O’Donnell, parents of four, dreamed of a society free of such discrimination. In 2004, they made that dream come true when 1,500 people – gay, lesbian and straight – set sail on a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean. With a bold stroke only Rosie O’Donnell could make, a joyous new community was born in this judgment-free setting, as passengers celebrated their freedom and made a positive, progressive statement about what “family” means today. (From the US, in English) PG CC WS A wonderfully uplifting experience. See First Review.

He wanted to create a spellbinding event, not just a soundtrack, through the combination of sound and vision. Then he saw the work of Bill Henson and Luminous was born. In addition to Henson and Tognetti, Luminous harnesses the sound designs of composer Paul Healy and the vocal talents of Paul Capsis, in an amazing multimedia collaboration. The film immerses the viewer in the world of Luminous, a concert that was performed only four times in 2005. The artists are interviewed about the nature of their collaboration and a range of visual and musical highlights from the performance are featured. The repertoire is an eclectic mix of works with disparate styles, often linked by Healy's evocative soundscapes. Henson's photography is projected onto a screen behind the ACO which adds a compelling visual dimension to the performance. The concert includes 20th century classical works through to pop classics and includes; Schnittke's Trio Sonata, Britten's Corpus Christi Carol, REM's I've Been High and Peteris Vasks' Violin Concerto, Distant Light'. Capsis also performs several songs, including Astor Piazzolla's Oblivion, and lends an ethereal, vulnerable quality to the performance, with his high unearthly voice.

Dog of a show gets new kennel

TEN has moved quickly to plug the leak that is Celebrity Dog School.

After only two episodes the show will move from 6:30pm Sundays to the identical time on Saturdays.

TEN will screen Futurama and a new Simpsons episode this Sunday night. From Sunday March 11 it appears to be double Futurama.... to be confirmed.

For the first two Sundays of the ratings year TEN has landed behind the ABC.

Celebrity Dog School, which is seemingly devoid of many real celebrities, attracted only 545,000 viewers last night. Larry Emdur deserves a better vehicle than this.

And audiences deserve better ideas.

Oscars: Spoiler free highlights

Ok gang.

I've just seen the Oscars a few hours ahead of their screening tonight on Nine.

I wouldn't dare reveal any winners to you.

But if you want a general overview, and some celebrity highlights read on.

Overall it certainly isn't one of the more memorable, but it's not without its moments.

Ellen de Generes is fab as host, adding her wry humour. She's suitably blase about the whole affair, with her tongue planted firmly in her cheek. Look for her audience participation moments, when she's in the crowd.

In fact Ellen marks this as the most lesbian Oscars in recent memory!

There are performances by the Dreamgirls cast, Celine (lol), Melissa Etheridge, James Taylor.

Jerry Seinfeld's intro to Documentaries is also a good laugh.

One of the more awkward presentation moments is by Clint Eastwood. You'll have to watch to see why.

Meryl Streep also manages a telling look from the audience.

And Jack Nicholson is there like a parody of himself. Bald, smiling, but still great Jack.

Best frock I'd give to Cameron Diaz.

Hope Nine's telecast doesn't include the backstage host who kept reminding us about what had happened and what was to come. He was lousy.

All the big awards are at the end as usual, but Supporting Actors which usually opens the night is now midway.

Good luck picking your winners, I had a great run this year!

The Oscars screen from tonight on Nine 7:30pm Red Carpet / 8pm Ceremony.
