2007-08 Season Notes
Will skate as a senior nationally and a junior internationally ... SP music: "Hymn to Hope" by Secret Garden; FS music: "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major" by E.W. Korngold ... Costume designer is Lauren Sheehan.

Goals are to have a strong debut in the Junior Grand Prix Series as well as in her first year as a senior, to improve her levels, and to qualify for the State Farm U.S. Championships.

Notes
Started skating at age 5 because her mom took her to group lessons to see if she would enjoy skating ... Is the oldest of three children ... Both siblings are athletic; her sister plays premier soccer and softball, and her brother plays premier soccer and select baseball ... Mother is a special education teacher and father is a systems engineer ... Formerly skated pairs with John “Mac” Kern in 2003 ... Attends Liberty High School in Renton, Wash. ... Member of National Junior Honor Society (2003-04) and National Honor Society (2006-07) ... Volunteers at her rink (Highland Ice Arena), helps out at Highland SC's annual "Blades on Ice" competition, participates in the Relay for Life and is a “Link Leader” (mentor to younger students) at her school ... Got involved in the Relay for Life because her grandmother lost her battle with cancer in 2001 and her mother is a cancer survivor since 1987 ... Also supports the Arthritis Foundation through the Jingle Bell Run ... Hobbies are playing with her dog, Nicki, playing basketball with her little brother, and watching Seattle Mariners games on TV with her family ... Has a passion for boating with her family ... Currently learning American Sign Language (ASL) at Bellevue Community College through the Running Start Program (dual college and high school credit) ... Loves going to her grandma's house on Orcas Island, where she and her family swim, kayak and go crabbing ... Biggest life-defining moment is landing her double Axel ... Would like to be a contestant on "The Amazing Race": "I would chose my sister as my partner. I think we could win because my family has watched the show for so long that we have learned all the great strategies." ... Would like to either become an ASL interpreter or get a job in the sports medicine/athletic training field after her skating career ... Was off the ice recently for two months after injuring her right shin ... Would like to meet Lance Armstrong because he is such a strong, determined individual, and she really enjoys reading his books ... Listens to country music; favorite artists are Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Little Big Town ... Says she always gets asked if she is related to Sarah or Emily Hughes because they share the same last name.
