Cork dispute nearing resolution

The Cork County Board will meet on Monday night to finally bring an end to the dispute between the board and the county's footballers and hurlers.

The board met football manager Teddy Holland today, with both parties claiming that the meeting was amicable.

Cork County Board PRO Bob Ryan, speaking to RTÉ Sport's Marty Morrissey tonight, said that a meeting of the board on Monday night would bring a resolution to the current impasse.

'We had a long and frank discussion,' said Mr Ryan.

'The meeting was very amicable...and we have agreed a process to finalise the situation with regard to the document.

'We have a protocol in place to have a meeting tomorrow night. We will report to the delegates and they then can take a decision based on that.

Mr Ryan added: 'Possibly there may be a vote, there may not be a necessity for a vote, but that will be revealed tomorrow night.

'The end of this current impasse is within hours, and rightly so. Enough people have suffered. Ted Holland and his colleagues have suffered immensely with the carry-on over the last number of months, and I think they deserve closure now and they deserve respect in that closure.'

Ryan concluded by saying that a statement would be released on Monday night following the board meeting.
